Lenny Thor Preyss, 66, of Marietta, Ohio, formerly of Solana Beach, California, passed away peacefully March, 14, 2016, at his residence. He was born December 26, 1949, in New York, NY, a son of the late Leonard Preyss and Ester Zoega Preyss. Lenny was an avid reader and sports enthusiast. He attended Paramus High School, (NJ) where he played soccer and was in the band. He went to Quinnipiac College and graduated from Kent State University in 1971. He earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology from San Diego State University. He taught Language Arts, History, Drama, and coached Basketball at San Marcos Junior High in San Marcos, CA, where he was beloved by his students. He won numerous teaching awards, was a mentor teacher and had a huge impact on thousands of students. He was a longtime collector of Mexican Huichol Art and was passionate about the Blues. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Cooper Preyss; a daughter, Nichole Wiseman and her husband Chris of Lansdale, PA; brothers Bob Preyss and wife Vickie of Marietta, GA, Eric “Ricky” Preyss and wife Gail of Chesterland, Ohio, and Jerry Preyss and wife Nancie of Louisville, KY; grandchildren Jackson Thor and Addy Wiseman; Aunt Venny Keith of Bridgeport, CT; stepsons Julian “Oshie” Bichar of Columbus, OH, and Jonathan Bichar of New York, NY and many dearly loved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Lenny was preceded in death by his first wife Sandra Preyss. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Crematory, Belpre, Ohio is assisting the family with Arrangements.
