Leona May “Peg” Pippin, 90, of Elizabeth, W.Va., passed away on Dec. 23, 2014 at her residence.She was born March 7, 1924, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late Roy Sodders and Nellie Geer Propst.During World War II Peg did her part for the war effort as one of the “Rosie the Riveters”. She was a homemaker and had worked as a housekeeper for several homes in Parkersburg. She loved to sing and play the guitar and piano. She enjoyed the outdoors, being beside the river, watching birds and wildlife. She loved reading Louie Lamour books and listening to Elvis. She was a Baptist by faith.She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Sue Pippin of Elizabeth, W.Va.; one son, James Lee Pippin; andone granddaughter, Christy Lynn Roseberry and her husband, Steve of Coolville, Ohio.“Mother and Grandmother, Each day of my life, like a carousel turns. There are chances to take, and lessons to learn. Caught up in problems, that each day would bring. Chances slip by, to catch the brass ring. Whenever I felt my ride slowing down, your gentle hand would push me around. Picking me up each time that I fell, you rode beside me on my Carousel. Now that you have entered into the Kingdom of Heaven, you will continue to ride the carousel by our side as an angel from Heaven.”In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Earl Sodders.There will be no visitation or services. A cremation memorial service will be announced at a later time with burial of ashes at McCray Cemetery in Creston, W.Va. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Services will be assisting the family.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Kanawha Care Hospice.
