Larry Keith Smith, 80, of Washington, W.Va. took the hand of Jesus on November 10, 2014 at his residence.He was born July 17, 1934 in Smithville, W.Va., son of the late James B. Smith and Ora Buzzard Smith McAtee.Larry was a 1952 graduate of Parkersburg High School and a graduate of Mountain State College. He served in the U.S. Army in the signal corp in Korea. He worked for Parkersburg Rig and Reel and the Rig and Reel of Texas and retired from DuPont Washington Works after 31 years of service. He was a charter member of Boy Scout Troup 26, a lifetime member of the PTA where he served as president, a member of the Faternal Order of the Eagles 2307 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a Baptist by faith where he served as chairman of the deacon board, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher of Sunday School at Murphytown Baptist Church. He was chairman of the Evangelism Board at South Parkersburg Baptist Church and had taught Sunday School. He was the former owner of Smith Realty and Parkersburg Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.He is survived by his wife of 53 1/2 years, Mary Ann Holtz Smith; one daughter, Mellissa Kai “Missy” Reynolds and her husband, James of Washington, W.Va.; two sons, Rory Kent Smith and his wife, Angela of Palestine, W.Va. and Adam Kraig Smith and his wife, Melissa of Marietta, Ohio; and nine grandchildren, Andrew, Zachary, Tristen, Colten, Noah, Jaclyn, Brooklyn, Rebecca and Gracelyn JoAnna. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Wayne McAtee.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastors Seth Fallon and Randall Fusion officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens with full military rites by American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
