Larry D. Showalter, 70, of Mineral Wells, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017 at his residence. He was born February 27, 1947, in Parkersburg a son of the late Irvin Showalter and Ruth Sellers. He was a 1965 graduate of PHS and enlisted in the US Marine Corps three days later. He entered Viet Nam in 1966 and left in 1967 and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, the American Legion and the VFW. He loved the Marine Corps so much that he passed on its birthday. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier and he loved hunting on his property. Larry is survived by his wife, Deby McVey Showalter; two sons, Jeff Showalter (Pauline Smith) Â and Cody Showalter all of Mineral Wells; four step-children, Don Carroll, Jr. (Janell Sandy) Â of Marietta, Larry Carroll of Parkersburg, Shaun Balderson (Amy Blough) also of Parkersburg and Nikki Balderson (Scott Hughes) of Austin, TX; one brother, Dan Showalter of Medesto, CA; brother-in-law, special friend and caregiver, Mike Evans of Mineral Wells; four grandchildren who were the light of his life, Hunter and Treavor Showalter, Raelyn Showalter, and Aylin Showalter; six step-grandchildren, Austin Carroll, Chloe Carroll, Dakotah Carroll, Sidney Smith, Gabe Balderson, and Mason Jumper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Suzanne Saupp; and a brother, Gary Showalter. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. south Parkersburg with Pastor Reggie Pickering officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Marine Corps League of Marietta Detachment 1436. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Semper Fidelis
