Larry Clayton Montgomery, 80, of Vienna, passed away November 27, 2024, at his residence. He was born April 3, 1944 in Parkersburg, a son of the late Harry "Clay" and Rosalia P. Covey Montgomery.
He was a 1962 graduate of Parkersburg High School. Larry worked with his father as a home builder and later retired from Swift Trucking after a career as a long-haul truck driver and instructor. He was an active member of the Senior Center and was honored as Vienna's Mr. Senior 2023 for the annual Holly Days parade. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, NASCAR, and was a dedicated fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates.
He is survived by his daughter, Julie Amos of Vienna; three grandchildren, Jennifer Brown (Tab), Bernard Potter III (Luzviminda), and Stephanie Amos; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sandra Montgomery of St. Petersburg, FL and Mary Ellen Wilson of Vienna; two nieces, Susan Hansche of Annandale, VA and Vicki Mueller of Vienna; and a nephew, John Hansche of St. Petersburg, FL.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Judith L. Rexroad Montgomery; a sister, Maxine Argabrite; and two brothers-in-law, Fleet Argabrite and Bob Wilson.
Larry's final wishes will be honored privately.
