Larry D. Matheny

Larry D. Matheny, 69 of Washington, W.Va. passed away July 14, 2016 at his residence. He was born May 26, 1947 in Parkesburg, W.Va. a son of the late Delbert James and Ruby Irene Moore Matheny. He retired from E.I. DuPont after 40 years of service and later was a Hardy Furnace dealer. He was a member of the Blennerhassett Corvette Club, was a helicopter and airplane pilot and member of AOPA and was a life member of the NRA. He enjoyed farming, scuba diving, flying and was a jack of all trades. Larry also retired from the National Guard 1092nd Air Guard in 2007 and was a member of Christ Mission Baptist Church. Larry is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Matheny and husband, David McDonald of Washington and Brenda Matheny and fiance, Don Pottmeyer of Marietta; a sister, Doris Cook of Parkersburg; and a brother, Jerry Matheny of Parkersburg; his ex-wife and care giver, Karen Matheny; and grandsons, Timothy and Nick. A funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2016 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg with Mark Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
