Larry Joseph Boston

Larry Joseph Boston, known by many names, “Coach, Santa, and Toad” passed away on July 21, 2025 at the age of 81 following a long illness with dementia, surrounded by his wife and daughter. Larry was born on November 11, 1943 in Akron, OH., a son of the late Glen and Louise (Wood) Boston and Beech Brown.

Larry was a 1963 graduate from PHS and attended meat cutting school in Toledo, Ohio. He eventually retired from GE Plastics after 32 years. During retirement, he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his wife and friends. However, what he enjoyed more than anything, was coaching football at Parkersburg South High School, including the 2003 State Championship Team.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna of 60 years; daughter, Tina; sister-in-law, Vickie Boston of Buchtel, OH; brother, Mike Brown (Brenda) of Mineral Wells, sister, Judy McCrady (Dave) of Parkersburg; brothers-in-law, Jack Godbey and Joe Godbey (Amber) both of Parkersburg. He is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews, many cousins; and special friends, Mike and Joyce Reel and Mike and Connie DeVol.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Dave Boston; mother and father-in-law, Don and Elaine Godbey; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Godbey.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice staff for their great and kind care.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., South Parkersburg with Rev. Rick DeQuasie officiating. Family will accept visitors from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, July 25th at the funeral home.
