Kermit C. Smith, 93, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away January 13, 2017 at the Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born November 24, 1923, in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Clarence and Estella Johnson Smith. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Army Air Corp. He worked for Kaiser Steel Company in California for sixteen years and worked as a construction worker for the Laborers Local #1085 of Parkersburg. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed golfing. He is survived by his wife of thirty six years, Ruelene Tate Smith of Parkersburg; one daughter, Lyndell Simmon (Rick) of Mary Esther, FL; four sons, Kermit E. Smith (Joan) of Parkersburg, Roger Smith (Linda) of Rialto, CA, Greg Smith (Sharon) of Sandyville, W.Va. and Brian Smith (Valerie) of Port Saint Lucie, FL; two step-daughters, Pamela (Guy) Lovelace of Alabama and Gayle Johnson of Raleigh, NC; one step-son, Greg Johnson (Mary) of Texas; ten grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one step-grandchild. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Campbell Smith; three sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg with Pastor Don Yeager officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
