Kellis Starcher

Kellis Starcher Jr., 90, of Parkersburg, WV, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born September 1, 1926, in Calhoun County, WV, a son of the late Kellis and Lola Mullenix Starcher. Kellis worked at Ren-Dor Lanes for fifty-eight years. He was a WWII Navy veteran, where he was aboard the USS Kidd Destroyer. He helped build Erickson Fields and enjoyed playing the banjo for the band, Country Travelers. He enjoyed hunting, was an avid outdoorsman, loved four wheeling, and bowling. He attended Cedar Grove Baptist Church and was a member of the VFW in Clarksburg. Kellis was also a number one Parkersburg South fan. He is survived by his wife, Dianne Starcher; a daughter, Doris Forshey (James E.) of Parkersburg; a son, Bob Starcher (Tiss) of Belpre, Ohio; two step-sons, Wayne Gorrell Jr. of Charleston, WV and Richard Clover (Sue) of Clarksburg; seven grandchildren, Brian, Darrin, Michael, Dodie, Kelly, Stacey, and Danna; and several great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Cora Lee Starcher; a daughter, Vickie Lee Marks; sister, Marjorie Black; three brothers, Charles, Jessie, and Barney Starcher. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
