On Saturday, February 18th, 2023, Keith Franklin Wigal of Parkersburg, WV, reached the end of his time here on Earth, at the well-lived age of 77. Born in Akron, OH on June 26th, 1945, a graduate of PHS Class of 1963; He traveled across many parts of the world until his time in the US Army (SSG/E-6), from 1965-1971, was complete.
As seen through the eyes of his grandchildren— Keith at a young age was world-renowned for his mouth, not holding back his opinion and a knack for using fancy words to tell it like it is. He made sure to always tell the truth even if it wasn’t what anyone wanted to hear. He was a stubborn force to be reckoned with.
He was known by many for his love of fishing, and also enjoyed hunting with his father-in-law, Rex Jude, and brother-in-law, JR Jude. He was a man of wit and cleverness— like being proud of his military time and spending “5 years, 9 months, and 18 days” rather than his 6 years he signed up for. He showed his love by pestering his loved ones, and it always brought him great joy when it was returned.
His favorite delicacies consisted of sardines, oysters on the half shell, fried bologna sandwiches, liver, frog legs, and was known to even like pickled pigs feet. It’s also worth mentioning, he loved shopping for pointless things, just as much as any woman ever could— but would never admit it.
Through his trials and tribulations of his life, he was steadfast in his faith in Christ. Keith was a heartfelt person under his tough exterior, honest with strong moral principles, a man of a sharp mind and integrity. He was a leader within his family whom he loved more than anything— with his wife Beverly of nearly 55 years, at the top of that list.
He will be missed beyond measure and leaves us with a hole in our hearts and a thousand beautiful memories, we hold close to, “for the good times”.
Keith was preceded in death by his father, Charles Wigal, mother, Ellen (Sams) Wigal, and brother-in-law, Carl Schmauch.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Beverly (Jude) Wigal, sister, Lois Schmauch, of Nokomis, FL, brother, Roger Wigal (Rose), of Adams, TN, daughters— Heather (Tim) Myers, of Parkersburg, WV, Amber (Mark) Mayhugh, of Parkersburg, WV, Pauline (Mike) Clark, of Coshocton, OH, 7 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Crematory is honored to serve the Wigal family.
