A video tribute to Jo is now available on this web site.Ellen Josephine “Jo” Florence, 91, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015 at her daughter's residence, surrounded by her loving family.She was born November 25, 1923 in Doddridge County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Harvey and Stella Williamson Dotson. Jo graduated in 1941 from Parkersburg High School and started working January 1941 for D. F. Turner Law Offices. In 1943 she worked for Dorr Casto Law Office and worked at Thompson Wholesale Drug for three years as pricing and billing clerk until 1946. She then married her husband, Earl Florence of 50 years on December 15, 1946 and began their life together operating Florence Brothers Dairy. They were owners and operators of the dairy until retiring in 1973. She enjoyed attending dirt track races and spending time with her family and grand-dog, Sophie Jo. She was a life-long member of the Church of Christ and a member of the Camden Ave. Church of Christ.Jo is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Patty and Charles “Cotton” Sayre and Gala Jo and Bob Miller all of Parkersburg; one brother and his wife, Dale and Shirley Dotson of Vienna, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Rod (Amy) Sayre, Penny (Rick) Spaur, Chuck (Renee) Sayre, Angie (Chris) DiConcilis, Kay Miller, Brad Miller, and Sherry (Randall) Bartlett; 13 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Florence on August 8, 1995; two brothers, Cecil and Ray Dotson; and two sisters, Martha Butterfield and Estil Butterfield.Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the Camden Ave. Church of Christ with Tom Butterfield, Bill Butterfield, and Dana Slingluff officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg and one hour prior to the services Wednesday at the church.
