Joseph S. DeBerry, 81, of Rockport, WV, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2019 at the VA Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born September 27, 1937, in Kingwood, WV, a son of the late Jessie and Irene Teets DeBerry. Joe was a graduated of Preston County High School and attended Parkersburg Community College. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Joe retired from the American Viscose Company and went on to be a parts foreman at Haught Oil and Gas. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was instrumental in starting the Mid-Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation. Joe was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Nadine DeBerry; his daughter, Melissa Wilcox (Brad) of Parkersburg; two sons, Rodney Joe DeBerry of Parkersburg and Jeffrey DeBerry (Stephanie) of Mineral Wells; a step-daughter, Christina Schoenleb (Rick) of Troutman, NC; seven grandchildren, Johnathon and Preston DeBerry, Stephanie Mehl, Lindsey Thomas, Megan Mason (Kenneth) and Alexis and Asher Wilcox; three great-grandchildren, Landon, Carlie Sue and Benjamin; four step-grandchildren, Dustin, Brandon, Candice and Morgan; three step-great-grandchildren, Maverick, Rykar and Levi; four sisters, Roseanne Ruble of Parkersburg, Lucille Albright of Belpre, Betty DeBerry of Parkersburg and Phyllis Buffington of Parkersburg; four brothers, Eugene of Ritchie County, Paul of Belpre, Ralph of Parkersburg and Wade of VA. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by an infant son; seven brothers, Albert, Johnny, Jack, Steve, Bruce, Bill and George DeBerry; and one step-granddaughter, McKenzie. A memorial service will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, in Mineral Wells, WV on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 2 p.m. with full military honors by American Legion Post 15. Pastor William Stout will officiate services. In lieu of flowers monetary donations would be greatly appreciated to assist with the funeral expenses.
