Joseph Norman Burk Jr.

Joseph Norman Burk, Jr., AKA Joey, Papaw, Pops, Handsome, Papa Joe, and Cheesehead, 55, of Walker, WV gained his wings on February 22, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born May 4, 1969 in Parkersburg.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Peggy Eileen Burk; daughter, Kileen Renee Bell (Ben) of Waverly; his son, Aaron Joseph Burk (Emily) of Walker; two beautiful granddaughters, Kaylee Janle Burk Stephens (Kaylee Joseph) and Annabella Rose Burk (Rosie Bud) of Walker; a brother, Gregory Scott Burk (Misty) of Walker; his mom, Judy Ann Burk; sisters-in-law, Janet Kuhn (Daniel) (Cheesehead) of Jacksonville, FL, Nancy Horor and JoAnn Kelley of Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his dad, Joseph Norman Burk, Sr.

Joseph is a 1988 graduate from Parkersburg High School. He worked at Mountaineer Family Restaurant for ten years, Obermyers Florist for fourteen years, On Bourd for eight years, and the City of Parkersburg for two and half years. He was a volunteer firefighter for Deerwalk Fire Department for twenty years.

He was a boy scout until the age of eighteen, receiving the honor of the Order of the Arrow. His hobbies included spending quality time with family, enjoyed any outdoor activities, he was a movie buff (Peanuts), the beach, and enjoying the simple things in life.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St. Parkersburg, with Pastor Doug Quinn officiating. He will be laid to rest immediately following the service at the German-Lutheran Cemetery, also known as Saint John Lutheran Church Cemetery located within Mountwood Park in Waverly. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m., and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday February 26 at the funeral home, and one hour prior to services on Thursday. A dinner will follow interment at the Deerwalk V.F.D.
