John Wesley Zimmerman September 26, 1932 – June 8, 2014John was born in Steamboat Springs, CO, a son of Billy B. and Edna B. Searcy Zimmerman. The family later moved to Craig, CO where he spent his childhood.After high school he served in the U.S. Navy and then moved to Boulder, CO, where he retired from Ball Aerospace in Boulder after 34 years of service. He and his wife decided to call Parkersburg, WV home about 12 years ago.John was an avid hunter and golfer. He had many wonderful trips with his buddies to their hunting camp in Colorado. When he moved to Parkersburg he continued with his golfing by joining the Sr. Golf League at Worthington Golf Course.He is survived by his wife, Gwelda “Gwen” Bartlett Zimmerman; a daughter and son, Debbie Tanner (Scott) of Loveland, CO and Gary Zimmerman (Karen) of Longmont, CO; three grandsons; and four great grandchildren. He was a huge part of his step children's life and is survived by them – Russ Scohy, Rod Scohy, and Bonni Stone, and step- grandchildren, all of CO. Also surviving are his 2 brothers, Bill Zimmerman and Charles Zimmerman; a sister, Darlene Wisdom; and many nieces and nephews.Also a big thank you for the great care he received through Amedisys Home Health Care and the staff at The Willows. There will be a graveside service 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parkersburg.
