John W. Stagg, Jr. 89, of Parkersburg, passed away peacefully Monday, October 15, 2018. He was born September 21, 1929 in Wood County to the late Carrie and John W. Stagg, Sr. of Parkersburg. John worked for C&P Telephone Co. (AT&T) for 39 years and retired in 1985. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and carpentry, having built one of the family homes himself. In his later years he loved to have as many family members as possible at Bob Evans for breakfast on Saturday mornings. He loved his many pets through the years and was a magnet for stray cats. John is survived by three daughters, Joyce A. Barnhart (Charles), Julie K. Chambers (Jerrold) and Sandra L. Monroe; grandchildren, Mathew L. Barnhart (Christina), Holly B. Bitz (Eric), Jason S. Chambers, Sean C. Monroe and Michael M. Monroe; three great-grandchildren, Layna, Danielle and Alexis and a sister-in-law, Linda Mitchell (Dan). In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Clara A. Stagg, son, Stephen, daughter, Suzanne, son-in-law, Christopher Monroe, and a sister, Glendora Murphy. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 19, 2018 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna, with Pastor Randall Fusion officiating. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday and one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
