John Lewis Mccrady

John Lewis McCrady, 90, of Mineral Wells, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at WVU Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born April 21, 1934 in Parkersburg, a son of the late Ottie G. and Mildred M. Walker McCrady.

He is a 1952 graduate from Parkersburg High School where he was in the checkers club. Afterwards he served honorably in the United States Army, and then worked in production at E.I. Dupont. He was undefeated in checkers, and he loved to go fishing.

John is survived by his wife, Barbara C. McCrady and their sons, Jay  McCrady (Heather) of Mineral Wells and Jeff Dorton (Jeanne) of Emerald Isle, NC; two brothers, Barry and David McCrady (Judy) of Parkersburg; three grandchildren, Jacob Dorton (Stephanie), Josiah Dorton (Myra), and Daisy Jean Armstrong (Simon); great-grandchildren, Josie, Mason, Ruby, Scarlett, Jonas, Izaak, Charlie, Parker, Rosalee, and Able; special friends, Jack Sadler, Charles Caton, Gerry Miller and (O'Buddy) Gary Wood; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Betty Dickerson; two brothers, Jim and Charles McCrady; and a special great-granddaughter, Goldie Armstrong.

Per John’s wishes there will be no public services.
