John Ernest Lewis, 69, of Belpre, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord Aug. 6, 2011, at his residence, surrounded by his family.John was born March 6, 1942, in Portland, Ohio, son of the late John and Helen Lewis.He was a carpenter by trade and a member of Carpenters Union Local 356 of Marietta. John was a member of the Mid-Ohio Valley Widetrackers Car Club and American Legion Post 395 of Belpre.He is survived by his wife of 49-and-a-half years, Kathryn Wagner Lewis; three daughters, Jana McMurray (David) of Belpre, Ohio, Sarita Ledsome (Jimmy) of Crystal River, Fla., and Dina Miller (Eris) of Belpre, Ohio; five granddaughters, Michelle Daggett (Liam) of Reno, Onio, Shona Woody (Michael) of Belpre and Jamie McMurray all of Belpre, Ohio, Allison Ledsome of Crystal River, Fla., and Mollie Miller of Belpre, Ohio; one grandson, Macklin Miller of Belpre, Ohio; a great-granddaughter, Presleigh Woody and a great-grandson, Peyton Woody, both of Belpre, Ohio; one sister, Diana Fritsche of Cleveland, Ohio; a twin brother, Joe Lewis of Whipple, Ohio; a brother, Jerry Lewis of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and a close friend, Lovell Hackney.In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, James Lewis; a sister, Mary Franks; and a granddaughter, Amber Dawn Lewis.The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Marietta.Funeral services for John will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Washington Blvd. Belpre, Ohio with Pastor Michael Lamb officiating. Burial will follow in Rockland Cemetery with full military honors by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home where American Legion Post 395 of Belpre will serve as honor guard.
