John Lloyd Jordan

John Lloyd Jordan, 89, of Parkersburg, departed this life on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, WV.

John was born on February 5, 1936, in Ripley, WV, son of the late George B. Jordan, Sr. and Hattie Jordan (Hamon). Also preceding him in death are four brothers, George B. Jordan, Jr., Edward Jordan, William (Bill) Jordan and Charles (Pete) Jordan; and children Annette Renee and twin daughters.

John graduated from Ripley High School in 1954 and joined the United States Army, proudly serving from 1956 to 1958 receiving countless marksmanship awards. After his military service, John went to work for Marbon at their Washington WV location in May of 1959. The facility was initially sold to Borg-Warner and subsequently acquired by GE Plastics. John worked in maintenance and became a certified electrician at the plant, retiring after 33 years.

John and his loving wife Janet traveled in their RV during early retirement, visiting almost every state and working at campgrounds along the way. They especially enjoyed the time spent working and camping at Yellowstone National Park. John and Janet loved square dancing and made lasting friendships with other dancers throughout West Virginia and beyond. They lived for a time in McAllen, Texas and then the Phoenix area before returning home to their beloved West Virginia, settling in South Parkersburg.

John was a Freemason, primarily with Masonic Lodge 169, A.F. & A.M. in Parkersburg, WV. He served as Worshipful Master in 1974-1975 and again in 1991-1992. John held various other positions in the lodge during his 50+ years as a Freemason. He was a member of Ripley Lodge #16, in Ripley, WV, at the time of his death. John was also a member in the Royal Arch, Knights Templar, Scottish Rite, Ben Bay Grotto, and the Shriners International. John enjoyed the fraternity, fellowship and Masonic principles of moral and intellectual development and promoting brotherhood, charity, and truth.

John is survived by his beloved wife and caregiver, Janet, whom he married in 1959, his daughter Janie Pennock (Dan) of Mineral Wells, daughters Mary Jordan and Susan Jordan of Scottsdale, AZ, son, John Jordan (Renee) of Laveen, AZ; grandchildren Daniel Pennock (Judy), Amy Traugh, Lucas Pennock (Gus Thomson), Alexander, Nicholas, and Camden Jordan, great grandchildren Lillian, Hattie, and Lincoln Traugh, Isaac and Samuel Pennock, and one brother, Joseph Paul Jordan of Spokane, Washington.

A funeral service for John will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, March 28, 2025 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, South Parkersburg, WV. There will be a visitation period one hour before the service. John's interment will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery in Ripley, WV, with Masonic Rites by Ripley Lodge #16, immediately following the service.

The family would like to recognize the wonderful care provided by the VA Clinic in Parkersburg and at the VA Hospital in Clarksburg, WV. Amedisys Hospice Care in Vienna and Camden Clark Medical Center provided companionate care during the final days of John’s life.
