John David Gainer II, 32, of Port St. Lucie, FL, formerly of Parkersburg, passed away at his residence June 8, 2018. He was born December 21,1985 in South Charleston, WV, a son of Glen B. Gainer III and Susan Ryder Gainer of Vienna. John graduated from Wood County Christian School with the class of 2004, where he participated in soccer, basketball, baseball, and golf. He attended WVUP. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop #4 in Parkersburg and was a Eagle Scout. He was general manager for Rooster In The Garden Restaurant in Fort Pierce, FL and was youth soccer coach for the YMCA of the Treasure Coast in Stuart, FL. He was a former swimming instructor and basketball coach at the YMCA of Parkersburg. John formerly worked for the WV State Treasurer's Office and the WV Attorney General's Office. He was an avid WVU fan and a member of the First Baptist Church in Parkersburg. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Sophie Murphy Gainer of Winston-Salem, NC; one brother, Joshua Gainer and his fiancee' Valerie Price of Charleston, WV; his paternal grandmother, Sally Gainer of Parkersburg; his maternal grandparents, Aceil and Nancy Ryder of Marlinton, WV; his aunt and uncle, Carolyn and Rusty Doerr of Morgantown; uncle and aunt, Jr. and Leigh Ryder of Marlinton, WV; aunt and uncle, Beth and Chris Criss of Parkersburg; cousins, Corey Criss and Jeff Juback of Bethel Park, PA; cousins, Dr. Caitlyn and Stephen Santer of Vienna and his life- long friend, David Daniels of Port St. Lucie, FL. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Glen B. Gainer, Jr. and one aunt ,Roberta Ryder and uncle, John David Gainer. Funeral services for John will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 18, 2018 at the First Christian Church, Washington Ave, Parkersburg, with Rev. Janice Hill and Eddy Garrett officiating with special music by Marty and Tammi Fullerton. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg. Visitation will be at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave, Vienna, Sunday, June 17th. from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church.
