Joel Michael Przekurat

Joel Michael Przekurat, age 54, of Vienna, after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma and with his loving family by his side, quietly took the hand of Jesus and walked through the door into his heavenly home on Sunday, November 17, 2019. Joel was born in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, on September 8, 1965, to Michael D. and Diane L. Przekurat, now of Modesto, California. He graduated from Grace M. Davis High School in Modesto, class of 1983, and in 1985 enlisted in the US Navy, where he served until his discharge in 1997.Following his discharge, he went on to work for the US Bureau of Public Debt until his retirement in September, 2019. While working at Public Debt, he met and married Kathi L. Combs on June 13, 2009, and on April 8th, 2011, they became parents to a beautiful daughter, Hannah Claire. With his wife and daughter, he attended St. John United Methodist Church in Vienna, WV. Joel’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, and watching the Green Bay Packers, along with trips to the beach with his family and friends. Left to cherish his memory, in addition to his parents, wife and daughter, are three sisters: Suzanne Atilano (Joseph), Michele Grams (Darin), and Rebecca Przekurat, all who reside in Modesto, CA;his mother and father-in law, Mila and Dave Combs of Washington, WV; brother-in-law, David A. Combs (Sarah) of Wilmington, NC; wife’s grandparents, May and D.C. Combs, of Vienna; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a fur-baby Snowball. He was preceded in death by grandparents Bernard Przekurat; Louie and Marion Przekurat Schmidt; Robert and Agnes Noll; Evelyn Noll Riesen; and beloved fur-babies Wicket, Sadie, and Grace. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at St. John United Methodist Church, Vienna with Pastor Mark Dennis and Reverend Norman Butler officiating. Military Rites will be provided by the American Legion Post #15 at the church. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until time for the service at the church. The family wishes to thank: Dr. Kelli Cawley and staff of the Strecker Cancer Center, Marietta OH; Dr. Don Benson and team of the James Cancer Center, Columbus, OH; and the Amedysis Home Health Care staff of Vienna, WV. for all the love and support they displayed throughout this difficult journey. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, or the Amedysis Home Health Care of WV. (Vienna).
