Joanne R. Givens

Joanne R. Givens 90, of Williamstown,W.Va. passed away May 10, 2016 at the Ohio Valley Nursing Home. She was born December 9, 1925 in Baltimore, Md., the daughter of the late Charles J. and Lillian Parlette Rudel. Joanne retired from Williamstown High School as a teacher. She was a graduate of West Virginia University and a forever loyal Mountaineer. She loved traveling, reading, loved her animals and especially her dogs. She was a member of The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption in Marietta, Ohio. She is survived by two daughters; Sharon G. Sheridan and Margaret G Miller (Mark) of Williamstown; four grandchildren, Catherine Spindler (Ryan), Anne Sheridan, The Reverend Eric Miller (Rosemary) and Jeffrey Miller (Jennifer); five great-grandchildren, Jamey, Joshua and Jordan Spindler, Nathaniel and Lucas Miller and her friend, Mary E. DeMary. The rite of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 13, 2016 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Parkersburg with Rev. Msgr. Joseph Peterson officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Williamstown. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations may be made to the Humane Society of Parkersburg, P.O. Box 392, Parkersburg, WV 26101.
