JoAnn Angela Schenerlein, 82, of Parkersburg, WV, formerly of Follansbee, WV, passed away peacefully August 30, 2018, in Camden Clark Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born JoAnn Rea, September 28, 1935 in Follansbee, WV, daughter of the late Vincenzo and Maria “Mary” (Lombardi) Rea. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Howell Schenerlein Jr., to whom she was married for 55 years, until his death in 2010; her brothers, Donald Rea, Vincent “Sonny” Rea, Francis “Frank” Rea, and her sister Alberta Rea Podar. JoAnn, “JoBabes” as she was affectionately known, worked many years at Worthington Golf Course, where she cultivated many friendships that lasted her lifetime, especially Sandy Robertson, best friend of 55 years, and others who she spent many nights with playing Mahjong, Po-Ke-No, and Bingo. JoAnn loved sports. She spent her married life in gymnasiums, football fields, and baseball fields, watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren perform. Later in life you could find her watching any sporting event she could find on television, especially her favorites: the Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburgh Steelers, WVU, and Notre Dame. JoAnn is survived by daughters Rhea Guice (John Hammer), Sondra Wallace (Wally); sons, Robert “Bob” Schenerlein, of Nashville, TN., Scott Schenerlein (Chris), and Wilbur “Scheny” Schenerlein III (Kristen), of Longboat Key, FL. Along with her 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. JoAnn was the center of her large family, who loved her dearly. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parkersburg Big Reds Wrestling, of which she was an avid supporter. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 4th at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Parkersburg. Visitation will be held Monday, September 3rd at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg, 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. There will be additional visitation hours Tuesday, prior to the funeral, starting at 10 a.m.
