Joan Sue Cantley

Joan Sue Ballard Cantley, 88, of Parkersburg, went to her heavenly home June 15, 2024.

She was born May 4, 1936 in the coal mining town of Cannelton, WV. She was the seventh among fourteen children. She graduated from Montgomery High School, and married the love of her life, Richard Dale Cantley in 1957. She worked as a C&P telephone operator until her children were born and then focused her attention on them.

Sue was a mother of four children, Sherri Pizzi (Joe), Lance Cantley (Terry), Scott Cantley (Kelly), and Amy Deem (Gregg). She also had ten grandchildren, CJ Hillenbrand, Steven Hillenbrand, Tyler Cantley, Jared Cantley, Molly Hillenbrand, Hunter Deem, Greyson Cantley, Colton Cantley, Cameron Cantley, and Chase Deem; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

She loved the Lord and was devoted to children’s ministry at the Bible Center Church in Charleston and Faith Bible Baptist in Williamstown.

To honor her wishes, Sue will be cremated and family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
