Jo Claire Eagle Lambert, 83, of Parkersburg passed away January 7, 2011 at Parkersburg Care and Rehabilitation Center.She was born in Parkersburg Nov. 16, 1927, a daughter of the late Russell G. and Florence I. Prince Eagle. After graduating from Parkersburg High School in 1946, she worked at C&P Telephone Company, G.C. Murphy Co. and Corning Glassworks.A true “tomboy” growing up, Jo continued athletic pursuits into adulthood. One of her favorite activities through high school was roller skating, becoming quite good at dancing the jitterbug on her wheels. After her two daughters started school, Jo took tennis lessons and spent several summers on the tennis courts at the City Park. She was a strong member of bowling teams for 40 years and served in numerous league offices, as well as on the board of the local Women's Bowling Association.She served as a Girl Scout troop leader for a number of years, helping dozens of Brownies through Senior Scouts earn merit badges, enjoy numerous activities and camping adventures at Camp Sandy Bend in Wirt County. An avid reader and puzzle worker, she also participated in creative pursuits. She enjoyed several crafts, including embroidery, and was involved in ceramics for several years.A joy to be with, Jo made everyone feel as though she had known them for years with her quick smile, easy laugh and willingness to share her life's memories. She loved to laugh and talk, especially with her family and friends.She is survived by her two daughters, Vickie J. Ross of Maple Grove, Minn., and Judith A. Lambert of Parkersburg; one granddaughter, Kasey L. Ross of Minneapolis, Minn.; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded in death by her husband of more than 58 years, Thomas L. Lambert in 2006; three sisters, Louise Webb, Jeanne Withee and Kathleen Hellburg; six brothers, Paul, Robert, William “Bill”, Lyle “Hardy”, Jack, and Richard “Dick” Eagle; and one infant sister.Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, with Pastor Joel Vogel officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
