Jimmie E. Delaney, 88, of Parkersburg, W.Va., was ushered into the arms of his heavenly Father on Jan. 13, 2013 at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus, with his loving family surrounding his bedside.He was born in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Doyle and Cora Delaney.In his earlier years, he was employed by Firestone Aircraft in Akron, Ohio and by Betty Brite Cleaners as a presser, as well as being self-employed in the business of plaster craft. A little deaf man who never allowed his deafness to become a handicap. He was a member of the Apostolic United Pentecostal Church, Parkersburg, under the leadership of Rev. J.C. Cole and his successors for 60 years. While at AUPC, he was the Missions Man, having raised thousands of dollars for Missionaries, home and abroad. Recently, he became a member of the Calvary Apostolic Tabernacle in Elizabeth, W.Va. During his lifetime he has published many books, constructed replicas of the Ark of the Tabernacle traveling statewide with his presentation and sermon of the Ark's construction and meaning. The Tabernacle is on display in a museum in St. Louis, Mo., as well as the country of Thailand. He is survived by a daughter, Carol Cottrell (Walt); sons, David Delaney (Angela), Ricky Delaney (Mandy) and Jimmy Delaney (Missy); a daughter-in-law, Lisa Delaney, wife of Randy; grandchildren, Rebecca Lamoureux, Robert Wiley, Laura Delaney, Jeff Cottrell, Scott Cottrell, David Delaney, Jr., Angela Reynolds, Alisha Delaney, Sean Delaney, Dawn Weekley, Randy M. Delaney, Ashley Delaney, Brad Delaney, Coty Delaney, special grandson, Preston Delaney; seven step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Major Elwood Delaney; several nieces and nephews; a special “son”, Lionel Parsons; and his faithful fur baby, Twinkles.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Alma Joy Delaney; two sons, Gary Delaney and Randy Delaney; two sisters; and one brother.Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Timothy Hopkins and Rev. Jeff Cottrell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
