Jerry Crandall Gard, 81, of Washington, W.Va. passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Camden-Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus. He was born Jan. 1, 1930 in Williamstown, W.Va., a son of the late Benjamin H. and Fannie Crandall Gard. He was a 1948 graduate of Williamstown High School and was a U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant serving in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. Jerry was retired from E.I. DuPont, Washington Works as an electrician after 38 years of service. He owned and operated Gard Electric for over 30 years and loved to spend quality time with his children and grandchildren while working on various projects in the community. He served as a trustee and was a faithful member of the Washington United Methodist Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge 3.Jerry is survived by his wife, E. Juanita Hoffman Gard; five children, Tim (Terri) Gard of Washington, W.Va., Jim (Debra) Gard of Mineral Wells, W.Va., Ben (Anita) Gard of Parkersburg, W.Va., Nancy (Jim) McGehee of Blacksburg, Va. and Scott (Holly) Gard of Vinton, Va.; 13 grandchildren, Austin, Lance, Sierra, Jerrod, Joshua, Ben, Aaron, Jamie, Jessica, Kristin, Grace, Spencer, and Katy; and 13 great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Chloe, Xander, Pierson, Jayla, Shayleigh, William, Allie, Kayla, Chase, Cameron, Chevy, and Ethan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Gard; brother, Clifton Gard; and sisters, Wilhelmina Gard, Ruby Campbell, Mary Warren, and Louise Merrow. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor David Calvert officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
