Jerome Cather Johnson

Jerome Cather Johnson, 87 of Hixson, TN formerly of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away April 28, 2015.He was born August 29, 1927 in Grafton, W.Va. a son of the late Dr. George and Nellie Cather Johnson. He was a graduate of Parkersburg High School. After a short stint in the U.S. Navy, Jerome married Mary Wade Johnson. He retired after a 43 year career with Corning Glass Works where he was a Tank Room Foreman.Jerome is survived by two daughters, Patsy Dowler of Mineral Wells, W.Va. and Brenda Amos Tanner (Darrell) of Chattanooga, TN; a son, Jerry Johnson (Sharon) of Hixson, TN; two sisters, Carolyn Spruiell (Joe) of Yukon, OK and Barbara Shockowitz(Bernie) of State College, PA; a brother, Mickey Johnson of Vienna, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. William “Bill” Johnson and Robert “Bob” Johnson; and a sister, Jewell Dye.Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2015 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg with his son, Jerry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery with military services conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
