Janet Hughes

Janet M. Hughes, 79 of Boaz, West Virginia, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Roane County, WV to the late J. Monzel and Marceline Romine Hughes. A graduate of Spencer High School and West Virginia University, earning a Masters Degree in Education. Janet was privileged to teach at Vienna Elementary until she retired. She was a member of the Sand Hill United Methodist Church in Boaz and was a 50 year member of Order of Eastern Star and a Grand Officer.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her brother, James “Jim” Hughes.
Janet is survived by her brother, John R. Hughes (Roxanna); nieces, Kari Harris (Anthony), Lora Matheney (Scott), Julie Hughes, Kelli Leary (Ian) and nephew, Joe Hughes. Also survived by several great nieces, nephews and her neighbor and friend, Susan Combs.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home with an Eastern Star Service at 10:45 am. Interment will follow at the Clover Cemetery, Spencer. Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 11:00 am Tuesday at the funeral home.
