James Ray Rapp, 87, of Williamstown, W.Va., passed away on Dec. 25, 2014 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.He was born October 18, 1927, in Minden, W.Va., a son of the late Otis H. and Pansy Woodyard Rapp.James was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.He was a scale mechanic for Toledo Scales and Kanawha Sales and Service.He was an avid hunter and fisherman, member of Vienna Reserve Police Department and Wesley United Methodist Church in Vienna.He is survived by his wife whom he married May 11, 1961, Virginia Rapp; two sons, James E. Rapp (Jan) of Vienna and Vienna Mayor Randall C. Rapp (Cassandra); two grandchildren, Carrie Rapp of Vienna and Shelly Davis (Joe) of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one brother, Donald Gene Rapp (Helga) of Catawba, S.C., several niece and nephews; and his faithful dog, Buddy.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Rapp; and one sister, Margie Sheaves.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna with Rev. David Bryan officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens with full military rites by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and from noon until time of services on Monday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Wesley United Methodist Church of Vienna Building Fund.
