James Otis Harper, 73 of Parkersburg, passed away June 23, 2018 at Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born April 30, 1945 in Whitmer, WV a son of the late Oscar and Mary Thompson Harper and also his grandparents Luther and Harlem Thompson who raised him. James was retired from WVU-P and enjoyed hunting, fishing, yard sales and spending time with family. He is survived by four daughters, Jennifer (Alex) Lambert and Haley Harper both of Parkersburg, Lisa (Charles Thomas) Day of Elkins, WV and Linda (Amos) Barb of Rockingham, VA; a son, James (Laura) Harper of Whitmer, WV; two sisters, Joyce C. Varner and Mary E. Delany; two brothers, Roy A. Harper and Roger L. Harper; seven grandchildren, Travis, Natasha, Chelsea, Karen, Brenden, Tucker and Tanner; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Karen L. Harper; three sisters, Bernice Hamrick, Elsie Harper and Madaline Kirkpatrick; and two brothers, Ralph A. Harper and Charles W. Harper. Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2018 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg with Pastor Kay Larson officiating. Burial will follow at Victory Cemetery in Alma, WV. Visitation will be 10 a.m.- 12 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
