James Cody Newland

James Cody Newland 32, of Parkersburg, W.Va., departed this life on March 5, 2016 in Goosecreek, South Carolina. Cody was a victim of a homicide. He was born August 3, 1983 in Parkersburg, the son of Cynthia Deeter Newland and David Newland of Parkersburg. Cody graduated from St. Marys High School in 2001 and worked in construction. He has been a resident of the South Carolina area for about four years and enjoyed music, was a guitar player and also enjoyed baseball. He is survived by his parents and was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mildred DeeterSmith, James A Deeter, Sr., Gladys Newland, George Newland and his uncle Michael A. Deeter. A memorial service for Cody will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, WV.
