James Leslie Melrose II, 61, of Parkersburg passed away peacefully at his home on June 22, 2018. He was born September 4, 1956 in Parkersburg a son of Katie Martin Melrose and the late Pete Melrose. Jim was a 1975 graduate of Parkersburg South High School. He served our country as a Green Beret Paratrooper in the Special Forces of the U.S. Army. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. In addition to his mother, he is survived by one daughter, Emily Melrose; one grandson, Luke James Modesitt; two brothers, Howard (Mary) Melrose and Bill (Debbie) Melrose; several nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved dog and best friend Jibs. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his Granny Martin and his favorite aunt and uncle, Deloris and Jim Lee. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, with Pastor Chris Waldron officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
