James Dwight Grimm

January 16, 1935 — February 26, 2016

Heaven's gain is our loss. James Dwight Grimm, 81, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away Friday, February 26, 2016 at his residence. He was born January 16, 1935 in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Ollie and Thelma Doak Grimm. He retired from Allegheny Power after 38 years of service, was a member and trustee at Fellowship Baptist Church, and was past Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 20. Jim loved his Lord, his church, his family, and his church family. He loved having his family around him and getting together with the “Shoney's Gang” on Sunday evening. Music was a huge part of his life. One of his greatest joys was playing trumpet in the church orchestra and singing in the choir and special groups. Another bass for the heavenly choir. His greatest wish would be to have each of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, and neighbors know his Lord as he did so we could all be together in heaven one day. He prayed daily for some of you. Jim's death leaves a huge void in our lives, but we are better people by knowing him. He is survived by his wife, Jane Drake Grimm; one daughter, Debra (Harold) Cunningham of Parkersburg, W.Va.; six sons, Terry Grimm of Springfield, Virginia, David (Naime) Morgan of Navarre, Florida, Jeff (Brenda) Morgan of Vienna, Mike (Amy) Morgan of Edgewater, Maryland, Brian Drake of Parkersburg, and Aaron (Ashley) Drake of Waverly, W.Va.; one sister, Marylee McNerney of Troy, Ohio; one brother, Russel Grimm of Oregon; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his second wife, Martha; one sister, Margaret Starling; and one brother, Ollie Grimm, Jr. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Fellowship Baptist Church, Vienna, with Pastor Jon Lands officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home,3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna. In lieu of flowers, Jim would prefer you make a donation to the New Family Life Center at Fellowship Baptist Church, 3300 Rosemar Road, P.O. Box 5099, Vienna, WV 26105. He was so excited to see it completed to reach boys and girls for Christ.
