James Edward Fitcher Sr., 75, of Rockport, W.Va. passed away on April 14, 2016 at his daughter’s residence. He was born June 26, 1940, in Wood County, W.Va. a son of the late Hampton V. Fitcher Sr. and Gladys C. Boso Fitcher. James was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired with 21 years of service with Dupont Washington Works. He was an avid bowler for 58 years, enjoyed golfing and playing the “One Armed Bandit”. He was a member of the Senior Bowling League and was director of the Parkersburg USBC Association. He is survived by two daughters, Jamie Friese (Chris) of Rockport and Joann Fitcher of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two sons, James Fitcher Jr. (Kimberly) of Mt. Holly, N.C. and Jeffrey Fitcher (Jody) of Myrtle Beach; two sisters, Betty Raby (Jim) of Turner, Maine and Teresa Kay Lozier (Bob) of Walton, N.Y.; three brothers, Bill Fitcher of Greensboro, N.C., Robert E. Fitcher (Debbie) of Mableton, Ga. And Thomas Fitcher (Betty) of Mauldin, S.C.; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Garnettia L. “Petie” Hudkins Fitcher; one sister, Lois Upwall, and one brother, Hampton V. Fitcher Jr. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2016 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. South Parkersburg with Pastor Randall Fusion officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens with full military honors by American Legion Post 15, Parkersburg. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
