A Video Tribute to Mr. Shipley is now available on this site.James R. “Bob” Shipley, 69, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Aug. 4, 2015 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.He was born Oct. 13, 1945 at Zanesville, Ohio, a son of the late James W. Shipley and the late Betty Richardson Shumaker.Bob was raised on a large farm in Nashport, Ohio and was a 1963 graduate of Frazeysburg High School. He was retired from Cytec Industries with 30+ years of service as a utilities operator. Bob was a charter member of the Walnut Street Church of Christ in Belpre, Ohio. He loved boating, fishing, motorcycles, his dog, Spanky and good conversations. His most precious possession was his family.He is survived by his wife of 47 wonderful years, Sally L. Clegg Shipley; his children, James “Mel” Shipley (Rachel) and Jill D. Lewellyn (Matt), all of Williamstown, W.Va. and Phillip E. Shipley of Morgantown, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Garrett Shipley, Lucas Lewellyn and Jennessa Lewellyn; special cousin, Libby Mendenhall; niece, Wendy Conaway Steve; and nephew, Wade Conaway.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John T. Shipley; and his sister, Carolyn Bollinger.Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 2015 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna with Minister Don Seevers and Roy VanScoy officiating. Services will conclude with burial at East Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.Memorials are preferred to Walnut Street Church of Christ, 401 Walnut Street, Belpre, Ohio 45714.
