Irvin Lloyd Hoyt,

Irvin Lloyd Hoyt, Sr. of Williamstown, W.Va. went to his heavenly reward Friday morning, January 25, 2013 at Harmar Place in Marietta, following an extended illness.Irvin was born February 8, 1925 in Proctor, West Virginia, the youngest son of Jacob M. Hoyt and Violet M. Hoyt. After graduating from Logan High school in 1942, he enlisted in the Coast Guard, where he served as a sonar operator aboard the USS Vance (DE387). After the war he worked for Lewis Furniture in Logan, and co-owned (with his father) Hoyt's Gulf Station in Ravenswood, W.Va. from 1954-1968. Irvin then worked for Sperry/Kardex until his retirement. Heserved as deacon and usher at First Baptist Church in Williamstown and was active in the Senior Adult Ministry. He loved the Lord and his family. In his last years, he enjoyed watching his grandson Jacob play sports.Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Betty Lou Hoyt, sons, Irvin Jr. and wife, Tammy of Staunton, Virginia, David and wife, Martha of St. Marys, W.Va., grandchildren, Chris Hoyt of Huntington, W.Va., Jeremy Pope of Lynchburg, VA and Jacob Hoyt of St. Marys, W.Va.; a great-granddaughter, Alaina Hoyt of Huntington, W.Va.; sister-in-law, Mary Hoyt a resident of Harmar Place; andseveralcousins, nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Rev. Donald R. Hoyt. We rejoice in their heavenly reunion.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor David Easter officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens in Parkersburg,W.Va. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.The family would like to thank Doctors Curt Dehmlow, Bob Erdelyi, and Rich Hershey, the staff of Marietta Memorial Hospital and Harmar Place for their excellent care and treatment of Irvin during his long illness.
