Irene Marie (Leasure) McIntosh, 99, gently passed away late Monday morning, May 7, 2018, at Worthington Healthcare Center, Parkersburg, WV. Irene was born February 28th, 1919 at the family farm located along Gillespie Run in Wood County, WV, the first-born child, of Sherman S. and Mary Elizabeth (Pursley) Leasure. Irene married Ray W. McIntosh of Pleasant Hill (Deerwalk), WV, September 5, 1936, at North Parkersburg, WV. Irene was a life-long member of the Mt. Moriah Church on Old St Marys Pike. Irene's father, Sherman Leasure, was one of the major carpenters that built the addition to the church, which was completed, and dedicated in 1927. Irene was the pianist, and the treasurer at Mt. Moriah for many years. Irene graduated from Parkersburg High School, with the June class of 1936. She was a homemaker and stay-at-home Mom until her children were grown. Her first job was as a cook in the Parkersburg High School Cafeteria, and a short time later she became the secretary for the Camden-Clark School of Nursing. After the School of Nursing ceased to exist, she continued in secretarial positions at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1978. Irene was an accomplished quilter and seamstress; all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have several warm quilts made by Irene for cold winter nights. Irene was a good cook, and an exceptionally good pie baker. She enjoyed traveling and camping with family and friends. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of nearly 67 years, Ray W. McIntosh, a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph A. and Ruth L. Leasure, a brother, Raymond E. Leasure, a son-in-law, Jack A. Ray, and an infant granddaughter, Monica Lynn Ray. She is survived by a son, Ronald J. McIntosh, of Walker, WV, a daughter, Sandra M. Ray Ellenwood, of Veto, OH. Grandchildren: R. James McIntosh, II (Chris), of Silver City, NM, Nicole L. Ray, of Geismer, LA, Charles A. Ray (Annie) of Little Hocking, OH, Wm. Brant McIntosh (Debbie) of Belpre, OH, and Jon E. Ray (Belinda) of York, PA. Great-grandchildren: Siobhan M. Coole-McIntosh, Corey Ray, Zachariah Place (Amber), Liam R. McIntosh, and Ethan A. Ray. Step great-grandchildren: Christy Lass, Paul Lass (Courtney), and Trent Fought. Great-great-grandson, Grayson Ray, and step great-great-granddaughter Gabriel Lass. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many, many friends. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2018 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg with Rev. Ed Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery, Parkersburg. Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
