Date and Time of Service: Friday, Nov. 5, 2010 11:00 a.m.posted 11/3/2010 at 9:45:06 AMIra “Ray” Valentine, 88, formerly of Mineral Wells and Williamstown, W.Va. went home to be with his Lord on November 2, 2010 at Harmar Place in Marietta, Ohio.He was born December 23, 1921, in Wirt County, W.Va., a son of the late Charlie and Estella Dawson Valentine. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired as a Forman in 1983 from E. I. DuPont after 33 years of service. He was a devoted husband, father and greatly loved his grandchildren. He was a member of Faith Bible Church in Williamstown.He is survived by one daughter and her husband, Jill and Stephen Lockhart of Cutler, Ohio; three sons and their wives, Ron and Diane Valentine of Lebanon, Ky., Mike and Connie Valentine of Cape Coral, Fla., and Tim and Becky Valentine of Pittsburgh, Pa.; ten grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Thelma Null of Elizabeth, W.Va.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Laura Irene “Dutchie” Guthrie Valentine in 2006; two granddaughters, Lydia Valentine and Emily Jo Valentine; eight sisters; and three brothers.Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, 2010 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Tim Valentine and Pastor Steve Delay officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
