Howard Paul Stringer, 79 of Parkersburg passed away Jan. 27, 2017 at Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born April 25, 1937 in Wood County son of the late Nolan and Nellie Cline Stringer. He served in the U.S. Army and worked at O'Ames. He enjoyed repairing watches and clocks and loved antique cars. He was a devout Christian and formerly attended the Celebration Center in Belpre, OH. Howard is survived by two sons, Robert J. Stringer (Jennie) and Larry N. Stringer (Lora Rose) all of Parkersburg; three daughters, Debbie Sue Custer of Mt. Vernon, OH, Jessie Kay Ash also of Mt. Vernon, and Carrie Mae Greene of Parkersburg; fifteen grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nina Chips of W.Va. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Gracie Steel Stringer; four brothers; and six sisters. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017 at Lambert-Tatman-Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. south Parkersburg with Dan Beckett officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens with full military rites by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be Tuesday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
