Howard James Hanshaw, Jr, 86 of Boaz, W.Va. died October 19, 2014 peacefully at his residence following a prolonged illness.He was born September 18, 1928 in Kester, W.Va., a son of the late Howard James Hanshaw and Marr Lizzette (Reed) Hanshaw Snyder of Parkersbug.He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in 1946-1947. He retired from A.B. Chance in 1993 and attended First Baptist Church in Williamstown. He enjoyed fishing, camping and his home. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and the antics of the squirrels playing on the power lines. This always brought a smile to his face. Howard loved people and was a man of integrity that could be counted on as a faithful husband, father and friend.Howard is survived by his wife, Alberta Lawson Hanshaw; one son, Stephen Hanshaw of Bell Valley, W.Va.; two daughters, Rhonda Miles of Vienna, W.Va. and Tanya Losey of Batavia of Ohio, ten grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren .In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Marie Hanshaw.Visitationwill be 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. October 23, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Chad Mugrage officiating.
