Howard "Charlie" Charles Mccoy

Howard Charles “Charlie” McCoy, 76, of Elizabeth, WV passed away September 15, 2017 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born July 21, 1941 in Big Bend, WV, Calhoun County, son of the late Charles C. and Hannah Ewing McCoy. Charlie worked most of his life as a Wirt County farmer. His farm management career took him to Princeton, NJ for Gund Investments Corporation. In 2003 he retired and returned home to WV. He was a member and Past Master of Burning Springs Lodge #132 A.F.&A.M., a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason at Parkersburg, a Royal Arch Mason, a member of Jerusalem #3, a Knight Templer, a member of Calvary Commandery #3, a Nemesis Shriner A.A. ON. M.S., of Parkersburg and a “Road Runner” for the Crippled Children Hospitals, a member of the Little Kanawha Shrine Club of Elizabeth, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #4487 of Williamstown, and a Patriot Life Member Patron Level member of the NRA. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and gardener. He loved to listen to bluegrass, classical and gospel music. He enjoyed singing, reading and collecting Masonic and history books. Charlie is survived by his wife, Shirley Boggs McCoy; a daughter, Linda Colebank of Parkersburg; a step-daughter, Shonnette Null of Elizabeth; a brother, Lewis McCoy (Brenda) of Belpre; three sisters, Betty Kerby of Elizabeth, Louella Woodring (June) of Akron, Ohio and Helen Lowe (Clyde) of Elyria, Ohio; brother-in-law, Chester Boggs (Lisa) of Elizabeth; a grandson, Aaron Colebank; and several special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Randy McCoy; a brother, Robert McCoy; two sisters, Della Shaffer and Mildred Williams; and three brothers-in-law, Walter Kerby, James Shaffer and Clarence Williams. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 18, 2017 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. south Parkersburg with Pastor Delmas Stutler officiating. Burial will follow at K of P Cemetery in Elizabeth with Masonic graveside rites. Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and an hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
