Howard Eugene Burchard

Howard Eugene Burchard, 85, of Waverly, W.Va., passed away on July 17, 2015 at his residence.He was born April 15, 1930, in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Charles and Sylvia Thornton Burchard.Howard was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Ralph's Market where he was a meat cutter for 27 years. Prior to Ralph's, he worked at Kesterson Ice and Storage.He is a member of the American Legion Post #15 of Parkersburg and was a member of the Waverly Church of Christ. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.He is survived by his wife, Shirley Eddy Garrison Burchard; two daughters, Debra Martin (Glenn) of Mineral Wells, W.Va. and Tammy Tilton (Vernon) of Lowell, Ohio; two sons, Phillip Burchard (Tena) and Gary Burchard both of Gray, Ga.; one stepson, Duane Garrison (Kristie) of Waverly; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Clayton Burchard in 1982; brothers, Russell, Charles and Paul; and sisters, Mary DeVaughan, Pauline Petty and Joese Corey.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., South Parkersburg with Evangelist Bob Long officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery with full military rites by American Legion Post #15. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
