Herman F. Oldaker, 82, of Parkersburg, W.Va., went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 31, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. at his home.He was a born again Christian and a member of the Body of Christ.He was born in Leon, W.Va., a son of the late Fred and Mae Oldaker.Herman was a faithful and loving husband, father, and grandfather.He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Norma Boord Oldaker; two sons, Randy Oldaker of Parkersburg and Sandy Oldaker and his wife, Tammy, of Parkersburg; a granddaughter, Kendra Nicole Oldaker Larkin and husband, Devin, of Kentucky; and one great-granddaughter, Sophia Larkin.Herman had worked at Mountain State Steel, Parkersburg; George C. Holcombe, Marietta; Stevens Const. Co., Ashtabula, Ohio; Smoot Advertising Co, Huntington; McWhorter Adv., Huntington; Billboard & Signs, Crystal River, Fla.; Vadican Paint Co, Marietta, and Electro Met, as a sign painter in Sistersville, WV. He was owner of Hi-Tech Bicycle Center for five years, and owner of Oldaker Sign Co. for the past 35 years.He was a Korean war veteran and was in the U.S. Army from 1950-1952.His hobbies were photography, archery, metal detecting, guitar, motorcycling, and traveling. He and his wife traveled all over the U.S. and nine foreign countries, including the Holy Land in Israel, England, France, Canada, Belgium, Holland, Mexico, Switzerland and Spain.Herman was active in church work and winning souls to the Lord wherever he lived. He taught several age groups of Sunday School classes and was an adult Sunday School teacher for many years. He was a Training Union Teacher, and attended a two-week Soul Winning Seminar. He was a church Deacon, on the Pulpit Committee, Church Usher, Building and Grounds Committee, Missions Chairman, Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting Leader, taught New Converts Class, Board of Trustees Committee and Choir Member. He completed Teachers Training Classes and completed Bible courses on the New Testament, Christian Doctrine and Theology. He spoke at various churches. He took Door to Door Witnessing Classes and did Soul-Winning for many years, having won many souls into the Kingdom of God.He and his wife continued with the Outreach Ministry of their good friends, Danny and Charlotte Dowler, after Danny passed away.There will be no funeral or visitation. The family will hold a private memorial service. Burial will be in Evergreen South Cemetery.
