Helen Ruth Sweeney

Helen Ruth Sweeney of Vienna passed away, April 16th, 2026. She was born on March 19th, 1934, to Robert and Leone Phillips of Ritchie County, WV. Her mother passed away when she was 3 years old and she was raised by her grandparents, Ethel and Ora Phillips.

Helen retired from Patti John’s as a receptionist. She was a previous member of North End Church of Christ, and current member of the 36th Street Church of Christ.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Joy L. Bowen(David), and Karen K. Fisher(Rick). She had 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren from her first marriage. A daughter in law, Barbara Starkey, 2 granddaughters, and 1 great grandson from her second marriage. A stepdaughter Jennifer Parsons, stepson Laverne Sweeney, a grandson and 2 great grandchildren from her 3rd marriage.

She was preceded by her parents, her grandparents, an infant daughter, Debra Ann Keith, her first husband Arlon Keith, her second husband, Charles F. Starkey Jr., and her third husband, LaMoyne Sweeney, 2 stepsons, Fred and Brian Starkey, a special sister, Virginia Moyers, 2 step grandsons, and a half-brother Billy Gene Phillips.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday April 21st, 2026, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home Vienna , with visitation prior to the service from 12pm-2pm. Memorials can be sent to the 36th Street Church of Christ.
