He was born November 5, 1927 in Wood County, a son of the late Joseph and Goldie Leasure Richards.Gene was a WW II veteran of the U.S. Army, was retired from Elkem Metals and was a long time member of the Rosemar United Methodist Church. He loved his church, his family, especially his grandchildren and enjoyed gardening.He is survived by his wife of 60 years Wyoma O. Cunningham Richards, Five Children; Rev. Michael G. Richards (Deborah) of Belle, WV., Rev. James O. Richards (Rebecca) of Winfield, WV., Catherine V. Nesselrotte (Steven) of Vienna, WV., Jane A. Fink (Robert) of Hilliard, OH. and Cara S. Atkinson (Randall) of Waverly WV., Grandchildren; Aaron, Gretchen, Patrick(Amen), Morgan, William, Benjamin and Vincent Richards, Eric and Mindi Nesselrotte, Robert and Jennifer Fink and Jarrett and Gabriel Atkinson, a brother Okey Richards of Arab, Al., one sister Dorothy Waybright of Parkersburg and numerous nieces and nephews.Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Bernice Fox and Beulah Crouser and four brothers Denzil, Donald, Harold and Joseph Richards.Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home of Vienna with Rev. Danny Mc Vey officiating. Burial will follow in the Vaught's Chapel Cemetery, Leachtown, WV. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services Saturday.
