Harvey Wayne Caplinger Sr.

Harvey Wayne Caplinger Sr, age 85, went to be with his Savior on October 10, 2024, in Parkersburg, WV. Born to Lorriane Anthony & James Virgil Caplinger on March 7, 1939. Harvey was known for his spunky personality and caring soul, always bringing joy to those around him. Harvey proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, dedicating himself to the values of honor and courage. After his military service, he continued to serve his community through his 32-year career at AMES, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. He was a devoted member of the Camden Ave Church of Christ, where he found spiritual fulfillment and fellowship. Harvey had a passion for building model trains, a hobby that allowed him to express his meticulous and artistic nature. He loved everything Christmas, especially his outside yard display. He cherished the time spent with his family, creating lasting memories. He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Mary L. Caplinger; daughters, Tammy (Kenneth) Bell and Delana “Charly” (Russell) Blizard; sons, Don (Amy) Moyer, James “Jimmy” Caplinger,and Harvey (Melissa) Caplinger Jr. 24 Grandchildren, 37 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great, Great Grandchildren, His snack buddy Millie, One Sister, Linda Brightbill. Numerous nieces and nephews. Many friends that were adopted family. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Ronald Moyer, and one Brother Monty Caplinger. Harvey’s life was marked by his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his commitment to his faith. His legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to inspire those who knew him. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Amedisys Hospice Healthcare for the care they provided to Harvey. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St. at 1:00 PM with Pastor Doug Wells officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Monday, October 14, 2024 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
