Callihan of Vienna, W.Va., died surrounded by his family at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital on Sept. 7, 2010.He was a native of St. Albans in Kanawha County, the eldest son of the late Charles R. (Jack) Callihan and Rose Jane Williams Callihan.He attended St. Albans schools and graduated from the Chillicothe, Mo. Business College and was also an LIMI graduate of Purdue University. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII. Before entering the armed services, he was employed at the Kanawha Valley Bank of Charleston.He was an independent insurance agent, and for many years was associated with Jefferson Standard Life Insurance Co. and American Family Life Assurance Co. (AFLAC) in Parkersburg.He was a 50 year plus member of the First Baptist Church of Parkersburg and the A.S. Kelley Bible class.He was a past grand counselor and a member for over 50 years of the United Commercial Travelers of America. He was also a commissioned Kentucky Colonel as well as a former member of the Kiwanis, Elks and Moose Clubs. He enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and was an avid reader. Above all, he was a friend to all and a Christian gentleman.He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia Davis Callihan. They were married in Hartford, Conn. on Dec. 12, 1943. He is also survived by one son, Charles F. Callihan and wife Delores J. Callihan of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one daughter, Patricia L. Wilson and husband Dennis E. Wilson of Vienna, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Heather D. Kline and husband John H. Kline of Daniel Island, S.C., and C.F. Callihan II of Indianapolis, Ind.; one brother James J. Callihan of St. Albans, W.Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert F. Callihan of Staunton, Va. and Paul J. Callihan of Midlothian, Va.Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home in Vienna. Committal to Earth Service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Garden of Prayer, Sunset Memory Gardens, State Rt. 95 West, Parkersburg, W.Va. 26103 with Rev.
