Harold "Pete" Victor Headlee Jr.

August 9, 1953 — January 10, 2025

Harold “Pete” Victor Headlee Jr., born on August 9, 1953, peacefully passed away on January 10, 2025, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by love and comfort in his final moments.

Pete is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Alora Headlee, and their children: Candice (Michael) Wise, Denise (Shawn), Derek (Katie), and Justyn (Sharon), He was a proud grandfather to River, Colton, Calvin, Aiden, Caitlyn, Jimmy, Cambria, Jameson, and Bella. He is also survived by his mother, Regina, and siblings: Kathy Headlee-Casto, Sue (Tom) Gajewski, Patrick (Debbie) Posey, Charlie (Gina) Posey, and Eric (Terry) Headlee.

A 1972 graduate of Parkersburg High School, Pete went on to graduate from West Virginia State College, where he excelled on a football scholarship. He dedicated his career to being a union carpenter and home builder, truly mastering his craft. For over 35 years, he was an active member of Beechwood Presbyterian Church, serving as both a deacon and elder. Additionally, he was a proud Boy Scout leader during his sons’ childhoods, celebrating their achievements as Eagle Scouts.

Pete found immense joy in the outdoors, whether fly fishing or sitting in his tree stand, waiting for the big buck. He was a gifted storyteller, whose tales brought laughter to those around him. One of his most memorable fishing trips was when, after two hours of wrangling, he landed an 80-pound tarpon in San Pedro, Belize—a moment he cherished.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Pete’s dear friend from high school football days, Stu Deem, for the countless hours spent together during chemotherapy, bringing joy and laughter to Pete's final year. Special thanks also go to his good friend, Matt Jones, for taking him on his last hunting expeditions and ensuring he was well cared for.

In accordance with Pete’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. The family will gather in the Spring to spread his ashes at his favorite big rock in the woods, a place where he spent many hours in prayer and reflection.

Pete’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and he will be deeply missed.
