Harold R. Lockhart, 71, devoted husband and loving father, of Parkersburg, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2013, at his home. He was born March 8, 1941, in Wirt County, W.Va., the son of the late Oscar C. Lockhart and Dorcas E. (Windland) Lockhart Godbey.He was retired from DuPont Washington Works as a supervisor with 37 years of service. He was a member of Southside Southern Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting and restoring bells, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed family vacations to Myrtle Beach, SC, Spruce Knob, W.Va., and the many trips to the family farm in Wirt County with his son. Harold's family meant everything to him and he meant the world to them. He is survived by his caregiver and the love of his life for over 50 years, his wife, Shirley A. Dowler Lockhart; three daughters, Beth A. Buchman and husband, Brad, of Parkersburg, W.Va., Sherry L. Farnsworth and husband, Mark, of Philippi, W.Va., Lori D. Lockhart and Jeffrey R. Buttrey, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one son, H. R. Lockhart, Jr. and wife, Jodi, of Parkersburg, W.Va.He also had 10 grandchildren: Mitch and Natalie Buchman, Lauren, Emily, Luke, Abigail, John, and Matthew Farnsworth, Marcus Whited, and Allie Lockhart. He is also survived by his sister, Jean Ayers (Howard), of Rockport, W.Va.; and three brothers, Gerald Lockhart (Kay), Roy Lee Lockhart, and Larry Lockhart (Delma) all of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice, neighbors Shirley and Fred Sullivan and Doris Davis, as well as special cousin Sue Amos Burton.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his special mother-in-law, Evelyn (Amos) Dowler Starcher. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 21, 2013 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, Parkersburg, W.Va. with Rev. Paul Drake officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
