Harold Ray “Jake” Brinker of Vienna, W.Va. passed away at his home on August 4, 2016. He was born in September 1924 at Leachtown, W.Va., the son of the late Okey and Bertha Lockhart Brinker. Jake served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946. On December 31, 1946, he married Bettie Lou Rouse. He was a kind and gentle caregiver during Bettie's fight with Alzheimers until her death in 1997. Jake worked at Universal Glass (Diamond Glass) for about 45 years. He was one of the last workers to leave the factory when it closed. Jake could always think of a unique way to find a solution to any kind of problem. He liked to camp at North Bend and loved being on the river. Jake helped with Boy Scouts and worked to prepare the first baseball field in Jackson Park. He built his granddaughter a wonderful playhouse. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Eula Woody. Jake is survived by his children, Jennifer Chamberlin and Daniel Brinker of Vienna. There are seven grandchildren, Whitney Chamberlin and Jessica, Zachary, Kayla, Melanie, Bill and Chad Brinker; four great-grandchildren, Mason and Lilyanna Chamberlin, Zoey Kirby and Raelynn Brinker. He is also survived by a sister, Doris Frohock, who resides at the Brethern Home of Oxford, Pa. The family is honoring his request for cremation without a service. A celebration of Jake's life will be made at a private gathering of family and friends.
